Study: Downtown Santa Ana Not Cashing in On Its 'Latino Identity

Central Santa Ana residents remain a largely untapped economic resource and could bring an addition $137 million in spending to the city, according to a new study by urban development researcher Jeb Brugmann.

Brugmann found that central Santa Ana residents make only 32 percent of their so-called "wellness" purchases -- groceries, meals, health and personal care products -- in the downtown core, despite living so close and lacking cars to drive to more distant retailers.
